Make your own Stick people

 Inspired by the Pines – let’s make some plant-based people!

Instructions:

Material best freshly collected during a nature walk or from your garden:

• Wooden Sticks

• Leaves

• Flowers

• Grass

• Glue stick

• Sticky tape

For the eyes:

• We used white and black chalk pen.

• You could also use tiny googly eyes.

• Or you could even make white circles in white paper with a hole punch and then draw the black dots with a black pen.

Lay all your sticks, leaves and flowers on a table and play with them, arranging them in different ways till you have an idea you like.

There are lots of ways to make your sticks people or stick creatures: you can wrap leaves around them to dress them, their hair can be made of flowers, petals, leaves or even pine needles … you could also tie grass into knots, or stick your leaves and flower petals on the back with either tape or glue.

These will be quite fragile so It’s probably best to move them very delicately because too much handling will probably make them fall apart.

If you like, you can even make little stories by placing them in different positions.

When you’re happy with how a scene looks, you could ask someone to take a picture of it.

The pictures will last forever, however your creations will probably wilt and dry and shrivel with time but you can always make more!
